Ian P. Burrell
Joining the firm in 2014, Ian Burrell focuses his practice on business and estate planning. On the business planning side, he has assisted numerous clients form and structure their business, analyze contracts during the life of the business, and buy or sell businesses. From simple corporation and partnership formations to more complex arrangements, he carefully analyzes a client’s needs to recommend and implement a structure appropriate for a particular individual or group. For existing entities, he has experience in drafting and reviewing Buy-Sell Agreements, Operating Agreements, Independent Contractor Agreements, Construction Contracts, Service Contracts, Commercial and Residential Leases as well as additional specific agreements that a business encounters on a day-to-day basis. With respect to buying and selling business, he has represented numerous clients from start to finish in purchasing and selling a respective enterprise via an asset sale, stock sale or membership interest sale.
His estate planning practice uses a similarly, individualistic approach to tailor the correct estate plan to the particular individual or family. Utilizing tools such as revocable living trusts, last wills and testament, family limited partnerships, powers of attorney, and living wills, clients can expect a customized estate plan to fit their needs in the simplest, appropriate manner. Often, estate planning clients require business planning advice, and Ian can offer guidance concerning a client’s estate plan and how it affects an accompanying business plan or vice versa.
PROFESSIONAL & COMMUNITY
A native of Colorado Springs, Ian Burrell attended high school at Air Academy earning three State Championships for the Kadets in Cross-Country and Track and Field. His running career landed him a scholarship at the University of Georgia where he graduated Cumme Laude with degrees in Criminal Justice and Spanish. Athletically, he garnered three All-American certificates for the Bulldogs and left Athens, Georgia with four school records. He went on to place in the top 15 of the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials and represented the United States in the 2015 World Track and Field Championships in the marathon, placing 25th overall.
Having retired from running, Ian still practices an active lifestyle. He enjoys the typical Colorado pastimes of hiking, camping, mountain biking, skiing and traveling with his daughter Shaylee and son David.
